Professor at Harvard and an American historian who specializes in Russia and the Soviet Union, Richard Pipes explains in this interview with radiocable.com the way he sees the present position of the former super-power rival of the United States.

Pipes believes that Russia´s ambition is to recover their major power status although for the moment, their possibilities are limited. But he thinks they work towards that aim and he is convinced that they use energy, for example, as a weapon. In that context, he also talks about the Lukoil operation in Spain, when they tried to buy a large portion of the Spanish oil company, Repsol.

He also believes that the present Russian president Dimitri Medvedev ??will not change very much?, and that Vladimir Putins is still running the country and will run again in 2012 to be the president another 8 years.
